Founder, CEO, Paralegal Extraordinaire
After a lifetime of working as a paralegal for law firms, Pamela decided it was time for a change. It was an obvious and natural transition - the legal industry had finally begun to embrace technology and, well, the economy could no longer support law firms. Bankruptcy courts had transitioned to electronic filing which meant that the field was ripe for the development of a service that would allow attorneys to maintain their image of professionalism as well as their bottom line by outsourcing paralegal duties. Pamela's business model allows attorneys and law firms to decrease their overhead while increasing the value of their billable dollars by providing professional, certified paralegal services in a virtual setting. Applying 25+ years of paralegal experience, Pamela Starr created StarrParalegals, LLC, to provide virtual paralegal services in Bankruptcy & Creditors' Rights, Commercial Transactions, and UCC, to attorneys and law firms nationwide. A daughter of the Great State of Texas, now living in Georgia, Pamela is an active (and former, two-term, Director of Membership) of the Georgia Association of Paralegals ("GAP"), the National Federation of Paralegal Associations (“NFPA”), the American Bar Association ("ABA"), the Association of Bankruptcy Judicial Assistants ("ABJA"), the Commercial Law League of America (“CLLA”), and the National Association of Freelance Legal Professionals ("NAFLP"). Pamela graduated from the University of Texas with BA in Political Science (and minors in Psychology and Classical Civilization) and from Southwestern Paralegal Institute in Houston - one of the first ABA approved paralegal certification programs in the US - as a certified paralegal in 1983; in 2006, she earned her credentials as a Certified Bankruptcy Assistant ("CBA"). Considered a leader in Atlanta's paralegal community for over 15 years, she has served on the faculty of, and as an Advisory Board Member for, the Institute for Paralegal Education ("IPE"). During her career, she has been a featured speaker at numerous national and state-wide paralegal events; has been published in the National Paralegal Reporter; the e-book, Sixty-Six Tips from Your Virtual Paralegal Success Team, and quoted at The Paralegal Mentor in the article, "Virtual Paralegals’ Top Ten Favorites"; and is featured in the 2009 CRAVE Atlanta Guidebook. Most recently, Pamela received the Champions Medal Foundation/Crossing the Jordan 2010 Diva Award celebrating women who have overcome great challenges and obstacles in their lives to achieve success and acceptance. In her "copious" spare time, Ms. Starr is an active member of Ladies Who Launch, a student at the Atlanta Scholars Kollel, and an amateur cantorial soloist. She is launching not one, but 3 blogs – a ‘proper’ blawg aligned with all things legal and paralegal, and two more, just for fun.
